Here's an alternative method of <a href="http://www.fidonet.org">communication </a>should there ever be a problem with the internet.
I have not joined yet, I'm still in the process of researching this option.
I highly recommend that you look into some form of backup communication in the event you cannot get onto the internet.
In pre-net days the fax machine was the preferred weapon in Russia (that and the Xerox copier). It was impossible to monitor and you can send the same fax to a group in one call.
