So far they're calling in an 8.7 on the <a href="http://www.pgc.nrcan.gc.ca/seismo/eqinf ... m">Richter Scale</a>.
The epicenter is near Toba, a <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/horizon/19 ... volcano</a> that erupted about 75,000 years ago.

I don't know when the Earth will settle down. Our civilization rises at the whim of Earth Changes. Unfortunately we're "due" for a supervolcano eruption (next 500 to 1000 years maybe?).
That's why humanity needs to get off of this rock and into space en masse! Space explorlation and colonization is the key to the survival of our species.
I'd better shut up, I could go on about that for hours.

It is believed that we may be able to put algae on Mars which in turn the algae can begin to produce oxygen into the atmosphere to create breathable conditions. Perhaps Mars will be a better version of Earth assuming that we learn from our mistakes.....probably not.
Our future, to be prosperous, requires Divine Intervention.
Kind of dissappointing to know we are not likely to live anywhere near long enough to see it turns out.

Yes sir! <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraformi ... forming</a>! Another potential tool to bring dead worlds to life for future habitation. Imagine living on a blue and green Mars, stepping outside your modular habitat to a cool and crisp morning wearing only your shorts and a sweatshirt. As you sip on some hot tea you watch the pinpoint of light known as the Earth creep over the horizon.ILF wrote:It is believed that we may be able to put algae on Mars which in turn the algae can begin to produce oxygen into the atmosphere to create breathable conditions.
And of course with only 1/3 the Earth's gravity you would live longer on Mars and the sex would be much better! (these effects diminishing with each succeeding generation)
Mars is a much better candidate for colonization than Venus. Too many technical problems and incredible energy requirements.
Damn, it's past my bedtime and now I'm all excited thinking about this!
I'd better stop.
