There’s nothing sexier to me than a pair of slingbacks and what really gets interesting is when the straps won’t stay up when a woman is walking. It’s so intriguing to see how they deal with it, so they keep pulling them up, when do they give up and just leave the straps down under their heels, do they keep wearing a slipping pair over and over, does it annoy them, how much the shoe slaps mid stride etc. Many celebrities have suffered from falling backstraps over the years and some, like Natalie Portman and Elizabeth Hurley, have made a habit of constantly wearing their slings despite their straps falling off every time.

Great thread! There's some superb photos in there! I've always thought that loose slings are a deliberate move by the person wearing them as they can slip them on and off easily. I had a teacher at school who routinely wore slings and used to wear them loose all the time. As a result she was always dipping/dangling them! Shame it was 1983/84 as with mobile phone technology now I'd have filled many memory cards with videos of her! Keep up the good work!

Funny you should say that, most women I know who’ve suffered from slipping slingbacks have had it happen purely accidental. Either their straps have stretched out too much with wear so now slip down or they have one foot bigger than the other so one always slides down. However some I’ve sworn seemed to either do it deliberately or just not care.
