Thought I was going to see a similar event a few years ago. I was at a graveside funeral service, in springtime after a couple of rainy days. One woman was wearing open-toed slingbacks and tan hose. The heels of her shoes sank deep into the sod, so that with each step the sling-strap was pulled off her foot, so she was basically clogging around. I followed her, thinking it was my duty as a gentleman
to assist her when she finally lost one of the shoes. But, she was very careful and somehow managed to keep both shoes.
